We are reigniting the new marching band uniform drive. We are currently just over halfway to our goal of $80,000 plus for the purchase of new marching band uniforms. 
We need your help to reach that goal!

Fundraising updates:
1. We are working on a silent auction to be held at the Band of Blue Night at the Kernels in August.
2. Business letter-writing campaign is underway.
3. Reach out to alumni -- gathering information.

As you know, school systems are under considerable budgetary pressures. Therefore, we turn to the generosity of our West Side parents, alumni, community, and Cedar Rapids businesses.Your financial support will enable the students of The Band of Blue to debut these new uniforms in the fall of 2014. A new uniform will cost $400.00.
Our goal is the purchase of 200 uniforms. The Jefferson Band Parent Association is a 501c3 group and your contribution is tax deductible. A receipt will be returned to you for your records.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Jefferson High School Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band on outstanding performances at the State Large Group Festival hosted at Linn-Mar High School on Saturday.  The Wind Symphony earned their 40th Division I Superior rating in the past 41 years and the Symphonic Band earned a Division II Excellent rating.  Thank you to the students for their diligence and hard work in lessons, sectionals, and large ensemble rehearsal in preparation for the performance.  Special thanks to Mrs. Anderson for leading and conducting the Symphonic Band this year, and our Lesson Specialists including Mr. Dickinson, Mrs. Kegel, Mrs. Wissenberg, Mrs. Drzycimski, Mr. Hoagland, Mr. Sadilek, and Mr. Naylor.  

Congratulations to the Band students for earning Division I Superior ratings in Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band this year!


YAMAHA SOUNDS OF SUMMER MARCHING PERCUSSION WORKSHOP
June 27-28
Dr. Daniel Moore, coordinator 

A two-day workshop led by Hawkeye Drumline instructor Andrew Veit, Director of the Hawkeye Drumline, and other marching percussion specialists. Students will learn contemporary drumline techniques and participate in hands-on rehearsals, clinics, and sectionals on the instrument of their choice.  Our guest this year is Jeff Queen! He was an original member of Blast! (Battery percussion only; no front ensemble.) 

Schedule: Saturday, June 27, 9:00AM-5:00PMSunday, June 281:00-5:00PM
TUITION = $100.00 (Includes sticks, instructional books, and t-shirt) The application deadline - May 15, 2015 
If you send a group of students from one school we can cut the admission price in half ($100 to $50 per student). The group must be at least 6 members. It's a 2 day all intensive camp: All day Saturday, and afternoon Sunday with a show and tell performance after Sunday's session. More information on the camp can be found here:
