7:00 a.m. Board buses for transfer to Pearl Harbor’s U.S.S. Arizona Memorial to see where history was made. Load instruments and uniforms on bus. We will witness the actual sunken hull where over 1000 servicemen were entombed during the December 7, 1941, sneak attack on Pearl Harbor.

We continue our blast from the past tour with a visit to the U.S.S. Missouri. This ship provided gunfire support in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa during WWII. We’ll be walking on the same deck where the signing of the formal surrender by Japan took place which led to the end of the war. Later, it was sent to the waters of the Persian Gulf for protection. The US Navy donated the “Mighty Mo” for preservation as a memorial museum. You are officially a part of history!

We’ll drive through a canopy of trees overhead draped with hanging vines and philodendrons. In 1795 King Kamehameha routed O’ahu’s warriors up the trail during his invasion of the island. Warriors were forced over the cliffs.
2:00 p.m. Arrive at our “home away from home” for the day. We’re not in Waikiki anymore! North Shore Beach Day! Today's itinerary will include a North Shore Tour where surfing daredevils gather from around the world to compete riding the monster waves that are often taller than most buildings. Depending on the season, we may be able to catch a few surfers in action. Sunset Beach is the local favorite and is legendary for its 20 foot waves. The North Shore is also the home of the famous Banzai Pipeline. When the ocean hits the shallow coral shelf offshore, a wave forms that is so steep that it rolls and makes a nearly perfect tube or pipeline. It is the holy grail of surf challenges. Don’t worry, we’ll just watch for today. Grab your sunscreen and shades and head to the beach for some fun in the sun.
5:30 p.m. Enjoy a catered dinner as the sun sets!
7:00 p.m. Board buses and head back to Waikiki.

6:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Snorkel at one of the most beautiful spots our Planet Earth has to offer! Hanauma Bay is a protected wildlife refuge where fish will actually swim up and eat out of your hands...and we're not talking minnows! You may even be able to see a sea turtle or two. This bay, cradled in an old volcanic crater, is an underwater metropolis that can’t be described so don’t forget your underwater camera! The conditions are excellent for snorkeling and the beach holds its own with its fine, golden sand. So put on your mask and enter a new world!

We’ll be visiting Hanauma Bay in small groups due to certain park restrictions. Groups will depart from the hotel starting at 6:30 a.m. with the last group departing at 12:45 p.m. The first group returns to the hotel at 10:15 a.m., and the last group returns at 3:15 p.m.

Lunch on your own today. There is a concession stand in the park.

4:30 p.m. Board buses for the staging of Jefferson High School’s participation in the Pan Pacific Parade! Today we’ll share our talents with others from around the world. 6:00 a.m. Breakfast for students and chaperones served poolside at the Aston Hotel until 9:30 a.m.

We will divide into 3 groups (A, B, C) as we head into
Diamond Head Crater 3 buses at a time.

Start stretching and grab your sunscreen as we prepare to hike about 3/4 of a mile to the 760 foot summit of the most recognized mountain in the world - Diamond Head Crater! This famous landmark wasn’t always called Diamond Head. Native Hawaiians referred to this famous landmark as Mount Leahi (Lee-AH-hee). The trail that we’ll be hiking today was built in 1910 to serve as a military observation station along the rim of the crater. The 360 degree view at the top of the mountain made Diamond Head Crater strategically beneficial. Bring your camera! Below, we'll see the lighthouse, coral reefs, sailboats, and even surfers on the waves at Diamond Head Beach!

Before returning to the hotel we will stop at Hilo Hattie’s for some of the best shopping on the island!

Lunch on own today in Waikiki upon arrival at hotel.
4:30 p.m. Go Native! Become a part of “America’s Best Luau” as filmed by ABC’s Good Morning America. Feel like “one of the family” at Germaine’s Luau as you learn to dance the popular Hukilau hula. The private-beachfront grounds give this venue its “relaxed, backyard style” atmosphere. Dancers arrive by outrigger canoe to begin the evening’s entertainment. See crowd pleasers such as fire dancers and Tahitian dancing. (You may even have an opportunity to get into the limelight by being asked on the stage) Help yourself to a 16-course, ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet of traditional Island dishes and continental cuisine (for you less adventurous eaters).
10:30 p.m. Return to hotel and immediate room check.
